Tech Pack Checklist for Apparel Manufacturing
A complete tech pack includes: garment measurements by size, fabric and trim specs, construction/stitching details, artwork placement, label and packaging instructions, and a colorway reference — missing any of these usually means a revision round later.
What a Tech Pack Actually Needs
- Flat sketch (front + back) with callouts for construction details - Point-of-measure (POM) chart with measurements per size - Fabric and trim specifications (composition, GSM, color codes) - Stitching/construction notes (seam type, stitch density where it matters) - Artwork placement (exact position, size, and print/embroidery method) - Label and packaging instructions - Colorway reference (Pantone codes if color-matching matters)
Don't Have a Formal Tech Pack? Here's What Still Works
You don't need every field above to get started. A reference sample, a clear sketch with rough measurements, or even a competitor product photo plus your changes can be enough for our pattern team to build a working spec sheet — we fill the gaps and confirm with you before sampling.
Common Tech Pack Mistakes
- Missing point-of-measure chart (forces the factory to guess sizing) - No fabric GSM specified (leads to a sample that "feels wrong" but isn't technically incorrect) - Artwork placement described in words only, no exact measurements or diagram - No colorway/Pantone reference for logo or trim colors
